11 Ways to Start Earning Money Online Today

While Learn From Internet Marketers is more about earning money in the long run with Internet Marketing and starting your own business, sometimes you just need to make a few extra dollars by the end of the month. Most posts on this blog will show you how to start and grow your own business, but this post will show you how you can bring in some extra money now – without having your own business.

Here are 11 ways you can start earning money this week, and in some cases, today.

  1. Write Articles. Do you enjoy writing? Do you have some sort of talent for it? If so, you can write articles, and get paid for it. There are many ways to do this. The quickest is to go to Associated Content (or a site like this) where you can get paid for submitting articles. You can also go to a site like eLance or Guru (more on that later) and take a freelance job writing articles. If you’re writing articles, it shouldn’t take you that long to write each article, and you should be paid fairly quickly.
  2. eBay. Everyone has “stuff” in their house that they don’t need, and don’t use anymore. Instead of having items clutter your house, put them up on eBay and make some money for it. Once you’ve gone through the stuff in your house, you can also go out and find things that you know are under priced, buy them, and then sell them on eBay as well.  While this can be a quick way to pick up some extra cash, you can also earn a good amount of  money by doing this.

Another way to use eBay to make money now is to find people in your neighborhood that either don’t have the time – or don’t want to use eBay themselves, but still want to sell their old stuff, and offer to sell it for them.  You’ll take care of putting the items on eBay, packaging and sending the items, and you’ll get a percentage of the profit.

  3. Freelance. Do you have any type of skill? It doesn’t matter what you can do, someone out there would probably love to have you do it for them. The good thing is there are plenty of websites out there that are set up for this, so you can just go on and look at what types of jobs are being offered. If you can write, program, draw, take pictures, market, make videos, etc…, you shouldn’t have a problem finding a job to take on in just a little amount of time. Just to name a few of these sites, you can try eLance, Guru, ScriptLance, and more.
  4. Mystery Shop. Do you enjoy shopping? If so, there are many websites where you can sign up for mystery shops. You will probably have to leave the house for this one though. While you’ll get the job online, most require visiting a retail store, restaurant, amusement park, apartment complex, hotel, or other location. The great news is that usually you will get something free (a meal, an item from a store, a free entrance into an amusement park, etc.), as well as usually get paid some cash as well.  You’ll also be able to give your input about how the shop went, as most companies want a lot of details.  Sick of waiting forever for someone to ring your purchase up when there are clearly multiple employees doing nothing?  Now you’ll be able to let the management know, and hopefully things will change for the better.   Here is a link to a list of legitimate mystery shopping websites.
  5. Read Email or Fill out Free Offers. There are a few websites out there where you can actually “make money” by reading your email, or by doing free offers. I say make money in quotes, because you’ll usually (although not always) be paid in gift cards. But these things usually take just a minute or so of your day, and can add up over time. Here are just a few: MyPoints – Get paid for reading your email. You can also get extra points for shopping through them, but even just with reading email you can get a lot of gift certificates over the course of a year. Then there are websites like Sunshine Rewards and CashCrate where you will get paid for reading email, but will also get points for doing things such as clicking on links or trying free offers. While you can, you don’t have to spend money in order to make money off of these sites. Also, while they won’t make you rich, they can give you that little bit of extra (cash or gift certificates) that can still help out when needed.
  6. Amazon’s Mechanical Turk. Have a few minutes here and there? Go on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk and earn a few cents for doing something easy and quick. You’ll do HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks) that interest you, and you’ll earn a few cents for each HIT. Some examples of things you’ll be able to do: “Select the correct spelling for these search terms”, “Are these two products the same?”, “Choose the appropriate category for products”, “Translate a paragraph from English to French”, “Find the item number for the product in this image”, and more. As you can see, these are quick easy things that don’t require much time, so you can do a bunch at once and earn a little bit of extra money.
  7. Make something. Are you creative? If you make jewelry, clothing, or anything else that people would be interested in, you can make it and then sell it online. While you can use eBay, there are now also sites like Etsy, which just sell handmade products.  Here you’ll be able to use your creative skills or interests to earn you some extra money.
  8. ExpoTV. Do you like giving your opinions about the products you buy? If so, you can get paid to create videos of yourself giving short reviews of almost any product you buy and use.  Don’t have a video camera?  Don’t worry.  Most digital camera’s these days will let you take videos on them.  You’ll get paid for each video, and on top of that get paid when someone watches the videos.
  9. Sell Photos. Are you good at taking pictures? If so, there are many websites out there where you can sell your photos either as stock photos or as posters. You won’t get too much for stock photos, but if you have a lot of photos available, they will add up. Here are a few sites to get you started:
    • iStock Photo – You can sell photos, video, and audio.
    • SmugMug – While you have to pay to have an account, if you already have one (or if you have a lot of pic’s to sell), it can be worth it. Here you can not only sell your prints, but posters of all sizes, as well as other items.
    • CafePress – You can sell your photos on t-shirts, mouse pads, and more.
    • Big Stock Photo – You can sell stock photos here as well.
  10. Get Paid to Post. Do you already have a blog? If so, you can consider doing something like PayPerPost where you’ll get paid for posting about something on your blog. There is a website called ReviewMe, where you can get paid to post a review about another blog on your blog. Of course, you’ll make more money if you have a larger audience, but even if you have a smaller blog, making money from the posts will add up. There is also SocialSpark, where you can post on your blog and get paid sometimes per visit, sometimes per sale, and sometimes for the post itself.
  11. Tweet. Do you use twitter? If so, you can also make money by tweeting. With these, you’ll usually get paid per person who clicks on your link to go to a website. A few examples of this are SocialSpark (mentioned above), and SponsoredTweets. You won’t make much per click, but it can add up. You just want to make sure you don’t annoy all of the people who follow you by doing this too often! Also, most (if not all) will require you to announce that the tweet is sponsored so that others know you are getting paid for it.  It is a nice way to make a little extra money though on something you enjoy doing anyway.

As you can see, even if you don’t have your own business yet, there are a lot of ways you can start making money online today.  The best part about all of these is you can set when you do them, so it doesn’t matter if you already have a full time job that keeps you busy all day, or children to take care of with just a few minutes of free time every now and then.  You can do these when you have the time, and can earn quite a bit of money with some of them.
